Alexsandr Mischan, Clinician
Alexsandr Mischan graduated from the Art Institute in Moscow in 1982 where he studied with Iliy Repine. Mischan carries on the tradition of realism – with modern, contemporary dimensions stemming in part from European and American influences and part from his own fascination with people.
Mischan's paintings celebrate the human figure with maturity and honesty. He combines the looseness and freedom of his watercolors with the detail of his oils resulting in a new and exciting direction. Above all, Mischan loves the figure; he succeeds in capturing every feeling, gesture and stance of his models – of all ages and personalities.
Mischan exhibited throughout Eastern Europe before taking his work to the West. His reputation as an exceptional portrait artist led him to travel and exhibit extensively throughout the world. He has had many group and one man shows most recently in England, Norway, China, and the United States.
