THE CONFERENCE PUSHING THE LIMITS, Expanding Experiences in the Arts, is a conference for experienced fine arts students already familiar and comfortable with their artistic craft. No beginners here! Whether that expertise is music, theater or visual arts; the conference has something for you!
Each school may bring up to 10 experienced students, maximum. Interest areas will fill up on a first come, first serve basis. Once a particular area is filled, all further enrollment requests for that interest area will be declined. The selection process may disappointment some, but in order to have balanced ensembles and clinics, conference organizers have no other choice but to manage registration in this manner. Please register as early as possible.
Conference goals and objectives strongly urge each school register their students in various areas of expertise; again with the understanding that ALL students are experienced both in both performance and academics in the area for which they are registered.
Each student must declare a specialized interest area, one in which the student has experience – no explorers, please.
Students will work with professional clinicians who will share their passion for the fine arts through-out this conference.
Each day students will have in-depth rehearsals or clinics. During this time they will work to refine their skills and techniques. Students will also have a chance each day for one Arts Unlimited class. “Arts Unlimited” classes are fun, short-session workshops organized to allow students various experiences in the fine arts! See the list for classes offered. Sign-up for “Arts Unlimited” will be available during registration on day of arrival day.
Evening entertainment will be provided by our own student participants. On Friday evening, students participating in the Shakespeare clinics, will produce an evening of Shakespeare scenes billed. "Pushing Shakespeare." On late Saturday afternoon students will view an Exhibition prepared by the visual arts students. And on Saturday evening conference participants will enjoy a concert prepared by the band, choir and strings students.
All meals at the conference will be provided by Eurest, Concordia International School's lunch provider. Healthy snacks and water are available during break times.
With regards to transportation, each school is responsible for booking their own flights to Shanghai PUDONG International Airport (PVG). Plan your arrivals between 12:00pm and 2:00 pm, as opening ceremonies begin at 5 pm on Thursday afternoon. The conference will provide bus transportation to and from PVG – Pudong International Airport.
Home-stay housing is provided for those students coming from out of town. Please note your needs on the registration form. Two hotels in the immediate area are also available for booking at your own expense.
