THEATRE CLINIC
The goals of the theatre clinic are devoted to providing students with insight and in-depth, intensified experiences in character development, acting styles, language usage and voice, as well as bodily preparedness and movement, as a means of clarifying Shakespeare. We intend to accomplish this objective through a melding of Shakespeare's text, and the actor's body and voice.
The purpose of exploring these varying methods of performing Shakespeare in conjunction with conference standards and expectations are:
- to clarify an actors development of his/her character through discovery and choice of objectives, obstacles and motivation.
- to examine the usage of varying acting styles typically utilized in performing Shakespeare.
- to examine the various methods of scrutinizing the Bard's text for rhythm, tone, intention, vocalization, pronunciation, and breath.
- to prepare and utilize the body in performance.
The clinic will be divided into four sessions over two days.
- Session 1- Language and Motivation
- Session 2- Styles and Presentation
- Session 3- Characterization and Development
- Session 4- Body and Voice
