MATTHEW GRAY- THEATRE CLINICIAN

Matthew Gray; Clinician

Matthew Gray received his post-graduate degree in directing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and was then invited to join the faculty.  He taught and directed at LAMDA for eight years.  During that time his repertoire included The Matchmaker, Hamlet, A Lie of the Mind, and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.

Mr. Gray has also taught at the Royal Academy of Dance, the Royal Academy of Music, and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.  He was an educational consultant in the UK for nine years - working with students, staff, parents, and management teams in over 350 schools.

Other directing credits include:  Krapp's Last Tape, Sam Shepard's Fool for Love and Shaved Splits, C.K. Williams' translation of The Bacchae, the London premiere of Guy Picot's People Who Don't Do Dinner Parties, and the world premiere of David Florez's Redemption in London.

Presently, Mr. Gray is a professor at Carnegie Mellon University.  He has continued to direct plays as well as write, collaboratewith the Massachusetts's Institute of Technology on acting technologies, and work with after school programs to promote arts and theater in school curriculum.  He is a 2007 Berkman Grant recipient.
